The Personal Site of Dan Masters

Google is Weird

The more I research and see the results first hand, I am convinced – Google is weird.

Today I checked, again, to see if my newer pages (or any pages knowing Google) are showing up. Well now, the old index.asp pages are now showing up in Google results even though the do not exist. Also, the newer 20+ pages of this site are no where to be seen.

Even weirder is that I have a Google site map that is automatically updated every time I post. The plug-in I use even pings Google to let them know there is a change, but they do not follow it.

I guess these are just the perils of revamping your entire web site (rant over).

Rant over! Aww come on, You can do better than that. For my motivation site, I show up number one for certain searches, but guess what the link is? The RSS feed page. Something most people don’t know what to do with. go figure.

I hear you. Some times I don’t want to even look at Google rankings for any of my sites but I can’t help it – I am addicted.

It just can be frustrating to be doing things the “right way” and not get the results that you expect.
